GREAT YEAR FOR FREE SEEDERS!

This is Oenothera speciosa, aka Mexican Evening Primrose, "Siskiyou" that free seeds in my gravel paths throughout the south garden. This year it is everywhere thanks to plentiful spring rain!
It can look a bit "weedy" but if you give it a little water in the summer it just keeps on blooming until frost. It will set lots of seed, of course, for next year, much like California poppies. Plant nurseries sell it as a rock garden or groundcover plant. A very cheerful addition to the gravel paths!

FEVERFEW GOES WILD...

This weedy looking plant is Feverfew...Tanacetum parthenium...if your Latin is going on...
It's a free seeder so once you have it, you always will have it popping up in pathways as well as flowerbeds. With this year's abundance of rain, it has taken over in places and you'd never know there was a big rose right next to this bunch.
So periodically I "log it out" and use my old Sango pitcher for a vase. It's a very attractive combination and I set it on the hearth. It's a bit smelly...after all, Feverfew is an herb and as the name implies, must have been used to treat illness.

EARLY SUMMER OR YES, VIRGINIA, IT'S GLOBAL WARMING...

Just some flora around the back garden where the deer can't get to it...clematis and All American Beauty rose on the greenhouse trellis.
Below the vibrant color is a hanging basket of morganianum..."burro's tale"
Delphinium against the ivy covered north fence.
 Astillbe blooming its head off...
 Early daylilies going for it...
Happy ferns under the silver maple...
