GARDEN COMPANIONS WHO DON'T TALK BACK...MUCH

Some call it "garden whimsy" but I call it my "garden guys." I've had this tortoise for 30 years...I painted it from concrete gray to a more turtle-like motif. The paint has faded but it still startles visitors looking so lifelike.
My undergardener hasn't gotten around to painting this froggie's eyes yet but I'm sure he will.

He did get around to rescuing the cranes from "demon rust" with a coat of a Rustoleum flat metallic grey and a fog of blue-green to simulate vert de gris.

Of course there is one garden guy that does "talk back" and is whining at me to take him for a walk NOW! This is his favorite bench right under the red maple, mid garden. He can see the entire garden plus watch the shop door for his "leader of the pack" to poke his head out and breathe away from the Swedish fish oil fumes in the shop!

LOOK MA, NO BOOTS!

Okay, I'm not taking full credit for the weather cool down...but I did remove and pack away my boots and winter shoes...thinned the herd as well since I'm not wearing those hard heeled boots anymore...my feet can't take it...

I also brought out my summer tops...pink, cherry, yellow... to the front of the rack in my closet
Then this happened...I'd call that a big green blob of wet for the entire week.
So far the clematis aren't getting ruined...only our famous Oregon Drizzle here in the valley. I guess it's back to jackets and light sweaters with temps in the 50's.

PAINTED LADIES AND LADS

Our weather vane goose got a new coat of One Shot paint and some much needed hardware refurbishment. Here he is in the shop drying. Now he has balanced wings thanks to added weights at the tips and doesn't "clack" when his wings rotate in the wind. We also extended the rod that he is perched on above the rose arbor. Now all the neighbors can see him as well.
The grey concrete ducks (Grace & Frankie) that turned slimey green this past winter also got some attention...several coasts of spray paint on the bodies to seal the concrete and some One Shot orange bills, feet and eyes. We even treated them to their own little cedar deck to keep them from sinking into the clay soil. Cute, eh!
